
Dr.Samar Al Shamsi is an Emirati award-winning artist and actress known for her classic conceptual inventive and often unusual artistic projects. In 2010 she painted Barack Obama's portrait and has been featured at the White House becoming the first Emirati artist to feature her work at the iconic presidential house in the US.
Her painting of HH Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan is exhibited around the UAE and the rest of the world. She creates drawings portrait and specializes in oil painting and often emplys comedic, drama, satirical and self construction of identity portraits, self deprecating strategies and contradictions while using references to art history and culture.
Samar holds a doctorate in arts science and arhitecture and is also a certified lawyer. Dr.Samar made her professional acting debut in a series of TV Commercials most notably in The Art Of Humanitarianism Commercial, a humanitarian campaign for the children of war in Syria.
In March 2019 she was cast in the horror action film A Tale of Shadows: Illusions, playing the role of Maitha marking her debut in the film industry.
In November 2019 Dr. Samar played the role of Sara in Sick World a drama film to be released in festivals around the world in 2020.
Al Shamsi is an active human rights advocate most notably organizing humanitarian campaigns for children of war in affected areas around the world
